About Therapy

You may know something about psychotherapy or someone currently having therapy or previously encountered it. I describe psychotherapy as a space in which a person can explore and work through any issues, concerns or areas of struggle.

Exploring Spaces Psychotherapy Service provides a contained space for you to address aspects of your life that are challenging and causing distress. An intention of therapy is for you to experience being listened to and support you to explore, without judgement, any difficulties, issues, concerns and struggles with day to day living.

Psychotherapy is often thought of as being a route to finding a solution to one’s difficulties. The process can also assist with facilitating desired change, introduce a sense of possibility and hope, improve and enhance the quality of living, whilst allowing you to reach your own conclusions, develop fresh perspectives and a deeper understanding of yourself and your current experiences.

Understandably, for some, entering into therapy may have a sense of stepping into something unknown and unfamiliar. It may also feel like a risk, with levels of uncertainty and ambivalence towards the process. My approach holds these considerations in mind, attending to any vulnerability felt towards entering therapy which can be an important step in addressing and overcoming life difficulties.

There are various methods, approaches and practices that can support someone with developing an understanding of themselves and support them in their day to day lives. Psychotherapy is just one approach that provides a useful space to understand one’s self, develop a clearer and deeper insight into your difficulties while finding a way forward. Therapy can offer a place for reflecting on the aspects of your life that are to be going well; it is completely up to you how you would wish to make use of the therapy space.
