- A place to explore, speak, feel and be.
Welcome, and thank you for visiting Exploring Spaces Psychotherapy Service. My name is Fuad Buraimoh and I am a psychotherapist providing both short and long term therapy.
You may know something about psychotherapy or someone currently having therapy or previously encountered it. I describe psychotherapy as a space in which a person can explore and work through any issues, concerns or areas of struggle.
Exploring Spaces Psychotherapy Service provides a contained space for you to address aspects of your life that are challenging and causing distress. An intention of therapy is for you to experience being listened to and support you to explore, without judgement, any difficulties, issues, concerns and struggles with day to day living.
With several years of experience within the NHS and Health and Social care field many share that my approach towards psychotherapy is creative and collaborative. Having a strong therapeutic working alliance with a therapist is likely to be an important factor for you when considering therapy.
My approach to therapy aims to establish a way in which we can working together, whereby the process provides you with a sense of commitment, importance and genuine interest towards you and the themes you choose to explore.
Alongside my role as a psychotherapist, I have several years experience working with individuals with mental health challenges; children and adolescents and those with substance misuse addiction and dependency. I’m a registered mental health nurse, currently working in the NHS, highly experienced and equipped to work with a wide range of individuals with mental ill health, psychiatric diagnoses, psychological difficulties and other issues
I work with adults and also children and adolescents, 0–18-year-old in a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) as a Clinical Team Manager and also work as a Child and Young Person (CYP) therapist. I also provide infant mental health (Under 5’s) interventions for parents and guardians
Prior to the NHS I worked in the third sector in the field of substance misuse/ addiction and dependency across a variety of settings, ranging from residential rehabilitation centres, drug and alcohol day programmes, criminal justice programs, stimulate specific services before joining an NHS drug and alcohol service as a Team Leader.
What I offer
I offer psychotherapy sessions for adults and adolescents (young people). I also offer parent and infant therapeutic interventions (sometimes referred to as parent-infant psychotherapy or infant mental health) with the aim of supporting the emotional and physical wellbeing of parents and babies/ infants during the early childhood period which supports positive outcomes of later child development whilst enhancing and increasing parental confidence.
Who I Work With
I work with people from all walks of life, cultural and diverse backgrounds and those from marginalised groups who have experienced levels stigma, social and economic deprivation, discrimination, non-acceptance, homophobia, racism, sexism, social exclusion or a negative experiences of institutions.
My idea of psychotherapy is mainly but not solely focused on providing a space that fosters the possibility that an individual may embark on an important and sometimes necessary journey of self-exploration and discovery.
It can provide and offer insight and understanding of your life and possibility of personal development, facilitating any desired change. Together we can explore the areas you consider to be of importance and there is no agenda for you to explore or discuss anything you do not feel ready or able to speak about.
Often the concerns and issues we face are at times very much part of the challenging and difficult world in which we live. These experiences can impact upon our daily lives making our experience of living in the world difficult, contributing to feelings of suffering and despair.
At times there can be a sense of something being wrong with us, as though the issue or difficulty is somehow located within. It may also be useful to acknowledge there being disharmony and dysfunction within the context, system or the society that we inhabit. My approach to psychotherapy takes these factors along with societal injustices into consideration when exploring the themes that you may wish to speak about and work through.
My approach offers a framework that is confidential and safe enough for you to begin to engage with therapy, either for a short term or longer period where gradually overtime you can develop a sense that this is a process you can learn to trust in and become confident towards.
Alongside working with defined psychiatric diagnoses, I also work with various issues and experiences and therapy can help with;
